Hello again,
This week represents new technologies in teaching that can convert ordinary learners into autonomous learners or "Critically aware learners" as Phill Benson (2009) stated.
The first
one is the Padlet which is easy to construct and advance the autonomy of students
because they will choose the suitable website, file, or video that is related
to their study topic.
The article
of Godwin-Jones: "Emerging Technologies Autonomous Language
Learning" is very rich with resources about how a teacher can employ technology
in teaching to stimulate learners' critical thinking and develop their personal
growth. The article contains various types of activities and CALL projects over
several countries. What I liked from these projects is: the "Tactical
Iraqi Arabic" to the extent I downloaded it and published it on my blog!
Cellphones are the partners of our students; we can get the better of them to enhance our students' motivation. In addition to the articles of this week I reviewed a lecture entitled "Don't Put Your Phone Away! Cell Phones in the Classroom". This was one of the lectures of my online course with the American embassy in 2014 (Shaping the Way We Teach English Webinar Course 12) on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vazeIuo6NPc .
Finally, this week I completed all my tasks, but I DID NOT complete my final project plan. This is my dilemma in this course!
I hope that all of us will be able to complete our final projects on time!

I have been attending group viewings of American English Shaping the Way We Teach English webinars at the US Embassy in Yaounde. They are great avenues for profesional development.
