Week 10: Course Completion

Hello Everyone,

This week declares the end of our online course and the starting point to implement what we have learned in our course in our practical life. Accordingly, I would like first to thank the US embassy in Iraq for this on line course (E-Teacher Building Teaching Skills Through the Interactive Web), our course instructor brilliant Donna from University of Oregon, the moon of our course, and the surrounding stars my course cooperative colleagues. I won't forget to mention the hidden course co-worker gems whose work marvelously appears.

The course is amazing we studied various topics; most of them are useful and helped me to succeed in the course like the ABCD model for writing learning objectives, the blog I have created, and the interactive PowerPoint presentation. The most useful for me during the course is the guidelines for discussions and discussion rubric because through them I learned how to gain the appropriate mark for success in the course.

For the present time I shall use the interactive PowerPoint presentations and the online exercises in my classes. Almost all of the materials we have studied are important and any teacher needs to master them. Because they are new, meet the needs of our students and cope with our modern digital world. Before the course, I had a small amount of information about how can we exploit technology in our classes to improve our instruction but now I have learned too much. Therefore I am looking forward to participate in the future courses which I am sure are going to be amazing like this one!

May each new day bring a feeling of excitement, joy, smile and a wonderful sense of expectation. Expect the best and you will get it!

Week 9: Learning styles - Strategies - Multiple Intelligences and Technology

Hello Everybody,

This week, we finally completed our project/plan reports. Three weeks ago I thought I won't be able to do so! But the continuous encouragement and support of our course instructor, brilliant Donna, my course colleagues specially, Diana, Guadalupe Bustos, Tinatin, and my plan report partner Nsah Mala whose remarkable corrections and comments on my plan report made me do so. I am so grateful to all of you!

We also posted comments about how to combine technology with the types of intelligences our students possess to create joyful leaning environment in our classroom. Once we identified types of intelligences of our students, we can set up the proper technology tool(s) and activities to promote our education.

I wish our course last forever!

How can applying M.I. theory help students learn better?

Students begin to understand how they are intelligent. In Gardner's view, learning is both a social and psychological process. When students understand the balance of their own multiple intelligences they begin
  • To manage their own learning
  • To value their individual strengths

Teachers understand how students are intelligent as well as how intelligent they are. Knowing which students have the potential for strong interpersonal intelligence, for example, will help you create opportunities where the strength can be fostered in others. However, multiple intelligence theory is not intended to provide teachers with new IQ-like labels for their students.
Students approach understanding from different angles. The problem, "What is sand?" has scientific, poetic, artistic, musical, and geographic points of entry.
Students that exhibit comprehension through rubrics, portfolios, or demonstrations come to have an authentic understanding of achievement. The accomplishment of the lawyer is in winning her case through research and persuasive argument, more than in having passed the bar exam.
Students become balanced individuals who can function as members of their culture. Classroom activities that teach to the intelligences foster deep understanding about the essential questions of life, such as: Where do we come from? What's the world made of? What have humans achieved? What can we achieve? How does one lead a good life?

Week 8: Teacher Resources Online

Hello again,

This week we get back to the starting point of our course, but this time we are the leaders! We can create our own technology tool, game, online offline exercise, etc., and use it, we know now how to do so. We also completed our final plan reports and checked the reports of our partners.

This week is loaded with "Resources for creating a class site or making online exercises" which I have downloaded them to be able to use them in the future! I liked these resources and I have created my Padlet site on: http://padlet.com/abeerkhudhair39/ysabs2fowwq3, and I am so grateful for our course instructor Dr.Donna who posted wonderful views to it.

I also sent my plan report to my colleague, Mr. Nsan Mala who has checked it and sent it back to me. Similarly I received his plan report, checked it and sent it back to him.

Best Wishes  and Warmest Regards …
